Sainsbury’s Beeston raise over £10,000 for breast cancer patients

Staff from Sainsbury’s in Beeston recently presented Nottingham Hospitals Charity with a cheque for £10,201, raised by colleagues and customers over the last year for the Nottingham Breast Institute, at City Hospital.

The Breast Institute was chosen as the Local Charity Partner by staff and customers of Sainsbury’s Beeston in June 2015, and the team have been fundraising tirelessly over the past twelve months to fund improvements to facilities, new equipment, and additional services for patients.

The Sainsbury’s team visited the Breast Institute recently to hand over this magnificent amount of money, raised over the year by book sales, tombolas, bike rides, bucket collections, bingo nights and funds generated from the carrier bag charge.

Charitable donations to the Breast Institute make a huge difference, most recently funding new headlights for surgeons; a special Breast Family History database to better assess the risk of patients; two new Bod Jet lipofiSainsbury's Beeston & The Breast Institutelling machines to improve outcomes in breast reconstruction surgery; and the development of a unique prosthesis and mastectomy garment fitting service and dedicated shop, which will be opening very soon.

Funds raised by Sainsbury’s Beeston will particularly support refurbishment to the counselling rooms and improvements of the waiting areas for patients at the Breast Institute – enhancing patient experience and comfort.

The Nottingham Breast Institute provides all outpatients services for women requiring diagnosis or receiving treatment for breast cancer in the Nottingham area.  Approximately 35,000 patients visit the Breast Institute every year to access the specialist breast screening, treatment and support services that it offers.

We are over the moon that four branches of Sainsbury’s in Nottingham have chosen to raise money for Nottingham’s hospitals over the coming year.  Please do look out for ways to get involved and support Nottingham Hospitals Charity at your local Sainsbury’s:
