Robins Big World Record

A tribute to Tim Pollard – Nottingham’s beloved Robin Hood

At Nottingham Hospitals Charity, we are deeply saddened to learn of the death of Tim Pollard, who played Nottingham’s beloved Robin Hood for more than 30 years.

Tim was heavily involved in our ‘Robin’s Big World Record Attempt’ in May 2018, which saw hundreds of people gather at Wollaton Park dressed up as Robin Hood – Nottingham’s world-famous icon, and mascot of Nottingham Children’s Hospital.

The event raised money and awareness for our Big Appeal for Nottingham Children’s Hospital, of which Tim was an avid supporter.

Tim lent his time and support to the appeal and the world record attempt, and his backing helped us raise thousands of pounds for young patients and families in Nottingham.

Nigel Gregory, Chief Executive of Nottingham Hospitals Charity, said: “Tim was truly one-of-a-kind. Not only was he instantly recognisable as the legendary Robin Hood, but he truly embodied the legendary character’s values of kindness and generosity.

“Tim had such a warm and friendly personality, he immediately put people at their ease, and it was a pleasure to get to know him and have his support for our Big Appeal.

“Our thoughts are with Tim’s family and friends – of which there are many – at this difficult time. Nottingham has lost a legend, but he will long be remembered, and our charity will be forever grateful for his support.”
