Golf, sun and smiles – Our Charity Golf Day was a hit

Posted on: 16 May 2025

Today we welcomed 15 teams to our Charity Golf Day for a fun and competitive day in the sun. The course was filled with chatter, cheers and a few lost golf balls as every team was there to make a difference to Nottingham Children’s Hospital.

Our golfers got into full swing at the stunning 18-hole Wollaton Park Golf Club and were joined by businesses from across Nottinghamshire. Participants started their day with a complimentary breakfast before heading out for a morning of golfing. From those who had have recently taken up the sport, to regular players, our Golf Day welcomed everyone, all with the same purpose of supporting our Big Appeal for Nottingham Children’s Hospital.

We were also able to run competitions such as Nearest the Pin and Putting Competition, thanks to generous sponsorship by Ideal Service Group, and the Longest Drive, which was kindly sponsored by NRA Roofing.

Making sure our golfers were kept hydrated on this warm day, we also provided halfway refreshments which were kindly sponsored by HW Martin (Traffic Management), and Hole 7 was sponsored by Sands United Football Club.

After the golfers had finished their round, they were welcomed back to the clubhouse for a delicious two-course meal and special presentations from the Neonatal Redesign team, who created the new Neonatal Unit at Queen’s Medical Centre, with support from our Big Appeal. After the tables were cleared, the winners of the competitions and raffles were announced with HW Martin (Traffic Management) being announced the overall winner of the day.

Once the raffle prizes were drawn, there were cheers and celebrations all round. A huge thank you to Boots, Bodega, Giggling Squid, Notts County FC, Nottingham Panthers, Diverstime Scuba Diving Centre, The Sea Breeze Holiday Lets, Roxy Ball Rooms, Leonardo Hotel EMA, 200 Degrees Coffee, Stuart Broad, The Pudding Pantry, Springwater Golf Club, Ramsdale Park Gold Centre, Rushcliffe Golf Club and Beeston Field Golf Club for donating generous prizes for our raffle.

Adam Ramsdale, Head of Technology at Ideal Services Group, attended the golf day with his team. He spoke about being on of our incredible sponsors: "The Charity is very close all of us here at Ideal Services Group as we work alongside the volunteers and staff within the QMC every day. Being able to do what we can and supporting the amazing causes NUHC bring is a fantastic opportunity for anyone. The golf day is a prime example of this with a mix of fun, excitement and the fulfilment feeling that you are helping those who need it most. As well as our two teams on the day we sponsored the longest putt and nearest to the pin as it was a great way to get the company information out and give that little bit extra for a cause we are so passionate about."

England cricket legend Stuart Broad’s mum and Big Appeal ambassador Carole Joyce attended the day with friends and family. She said of the day “It’s been such a lovely day and everyone was incredibly friendly and welcoming. By spending the day outside playing golf, we’ve all helped bring a touch of sunshine to Nottingham Children’s Hospital.

“I’ve seen first-hand the impact that donations and events like this make, and it’s been great to see so many people and businesses come together to support the Big Appeal.”

A huge thank you to all the companies that came along and supported our Charity Golf Day including Handelsbanken, Brown Bevan Insurance Brokers, ZF Services UK Ltd and H W Martin.

Overall the day was a great success and everyone came together for an amazing day of golf whilst making a difference.
