Providing new buildings and refurbishments across Nottingham’s hospitals

Providing new buildings and improving existing areas of our hospitals is an important part of ensuring that patient care is the best it can be. We aim to create calming, comfortable and supportive environments for patients and their loved ones during their visits to Nottingham’s NHS hospitals.

Parent and family accommodation refurbishment

Supporting families at Nottingham Children’s Hospital

Thanks to your support, we were able to fund the complete transformation of the Parent and Family Accommodation at Nottingham Children’s Hospital. As part of our Big Appeal, supporters helped us raised over £500,000 which helped fund:

  • Multiple family bedrooms for parents and siblings to stay close by
  • Modernised kitchens and bathrooms to create a home-from-home environment
  • Comfortable and quiet spaces so that parents can stay close to their children but also get a refreshing rest

This accommodation provides a much-needed space for parents who want to stay close by their seriously ill child.

Introducing a peaceful area in a busy department

A much-needed quiet space in the Children’s Emergency Department provides patients and their loved ones with a place to speak to doctors and nurses about their mental health and treatment. The Willow Room adds a touch of calm to an incredibly stressful situation, away from the busy clinical areas.

Playroom 1

Bringing play back to children and young people

A new playroom is providing a space where children can be children and step away from the clinical environment on the wars.  Located near Ward E37 at Nottingham Children’s Hospital, this room is full of sensory toys and equipment, and allows patients to spend time with play specialists in a comfortable and calm environment.
