Congratulations to the winners of this year’s NUHonours awards 2015. The winners were announced at a glittering awards ceremony at the East Midlands conference centre on Friday 13th November.
The Charity funds the annual awards scheme to recognise and thank staff and volunteers at Nottingham’s hospitals who have gone the extra mile for their patients over the past year. There are 16 categories, including Fundraiser of the Year, which is awarded to a member of staff or team who has gone above and beyond the call of duty by raising money for the Charity alongside their day job.
Chief Executive of Nottingham Hospitals Charity, Barbara Cathcart says: “Most of us in the local area have either been treated at Nottingham University Hospitals ourselves, or have a close relative or friend who has been cared for here, and we’ve experienced first-hand the difference that can be made by a friendly face or a caring gesture from the staff who are caring for us – whether that be a nurse or a doctor taking the time to explain something to us, or perhaps a receptionist or housekeeper going the extra mile to help us feel comfortable at a vulnerable time.
“And that’s why Nottingham Hospitals Charity has chosen to fund the NUHonours Awards again, for the ninth consecutive year. Our donors tell us that they want to ‘give back’ to the people who have cared for them, and that’s why we sponsor these awards each year – to mark the selfless contributions that staff make to their patients every day at NUH, that may often seem to go unnoticed and unthanked.”
