Christmas Tree Recycling Scheme FAQ

Thank you for booking onto our Christmas Tree Recycling Scheme! We have been overwhelmed by the support from our community this year. Nearly 700 households have contributed to a total of £8,000 raised for Nottingham’s NHS hospitals.

If you have a question, check below to see if your query has already been answered. If you do have any other questions or comments, please email charity@nuh.nhs.uk and we will respond to you as soon as possible.

I have signed up to the scheme – what should I do with my tree?

Please leave your Christmas tree at the front of your house, somewhere clear and obvious, by 8am on Wednesday 6 January. If we cannot see your tree when we arrive at your property, we might miss you out!

Should I make sure I’m in, to accept the collection?

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, this scheme will be a contactless service. This which means we do not need to see you in order to collect your tree. Don’t worry – if you have popped to the shops when we arrive, that’s ok!

Can I request a particular day or time for collection?

Unfortunately, it is not possible to book a certain time or date for us to collect your tree. We are relying on our incredible volunteers who have generously offered to cover all of the postcodes across Nottinghamshire.

What should I do if I’m worried you have missed me out?

We are aiming to collect all trees by the end of 15 January 2021. However, with over 700 registrations there might be one or two we miss. Please wait until this date and then please do get in touch if your tree is still waiting for us.

I’m worried my registration didn’t come through – what do I do?

No problem, just email charity@nuh.nhs.uk or contact us on social media and we can double check your address is on our list.

What are you doing with the trees once you have collected them?

All trees are being sustainably recycled by one of our kind Nottinghamshire-based recycling partners.

I need to cancel my collection – how do I do this?

No problem, just email charity@nuh.nhs.uk or contact us on social media to cancel your collection. We will then pass this onto the volunteers in your area.

What is my donation being spent on?

All donations will be put towards the Nottingham Hospitals Charity ‘general funds’. This means that the money will not be allocated towards a specific ward or department, but will instead be available for any part of the four Nottingham hospitals who apply for a grant. Our grants application process is really rigorous, so you can rest assured the donations will always be used for something positive and important for staff, patients and their families. Read more about the impact of your donations here.

I missed out booking a slot this year, will you run it again in 2021?

Absolutely! Please follow us on social media, on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter, when we’ll announce the scheme in November 2021.

I am a volunteer or company that would like to help, how do I get in touch?

We have been overwhelmed by the offers of support for the Christmas Tree Recycling Scheme this year, so we don’t need any additional help just now. However! We’d like to collect even more trees next year, so please register your interest for support in 2021 by emailing charity@nuh.nhs.uk.
