As the year draws to a close, we’re looking back at some of the impactful projects your support has helped us provide at Nottingham’s NHS hospitals, as well as some of the fantastic events our supporters have taken part in during 2023.

Thanks to supporters like the incredible Black and Green Ball team, we were able to fund a beautiful and tranquil new waiting room at the Nottingham Breast Institute, which is making a real difference to patients during anxious waits for appointments.

For our younger patients at Nottingham Children’s Hospital, we helped fund a new play specialist scheme for children undergoing MRI scans, helping them feel less anxious and more prepared, and reducing the number of children needing general anaesthetic before their scans.

And for older patients with dementia, we’ve been able to provide special tea parties to encourage social interaction and enjoyment of familiar foods. All the foods and drinks are specially selected to be easy to enjoy for patients who may ordinarily struggle to eat and drink with ease.

None of these projects would have been possible without the help of our incredible supporters. You can read about all these projects and more on our Impact page here.

Elsewhere, we were excited to launch the newest phase of our Big Appeal for Nottingham Children’s Hospital this autumn, which aims to raise £1.5million for a range of enhancements to benefit young patients and their families.

We also held our first ever two-day Dragon Boat Race on the River Trent, with a great time had by all over 280 fantastic fundraisers, raising more £20,000 for Nottingham’s NHS hospitals.

Our Big QMC Abseil also returned in both March and September, with a total of over 160 people braving the drop, raising more than £57,000 for our hospitals.

We’ve got a whole host of exciting events coming up in 2024 – find out about all our events here.

Thank you to everyone who has supported Nottingham Hospitals Charity throughout 2023, by making a donation, getting involved in a fundraising event, or volunteering their time to help.

Wishing you all a wonderful festive period and a healthy and happy start to the New Year. We can’t wait to see what 2024 will bring!
