Big QMC Abseil raises over £28,000!

Thanks to our fantastic abseilers across NUH and beyond, this year's Big QMC Abseil has raised more than £28,000! Participants from across NUH and the local community abseiled 100ft down the side of the QMC on Saturday 6 September, all in aid of Nottingham Hospitals Charity. Read the full story.

Helping young people enjoy new adventures

Thanks to our supporters, we funded a special residential trip for young people being cared for at Nottingham Children’s Hospital over the summer holidays. The trip, which is organised annually by the NUH Youth Service, was full of fun adventures like abseiling and paddleboarding, and encouraged young people to try new things despite their illnesses. Eight-year-old William's huge charity challenge

Our amazing young fundraiser, eight-year-old William Reckless, has taken on a huge charity challenge to thank the team at Nottingham Children's Hospital who saved his life when he was struck down by sepsis at the age of three. William, who lost both legs and nine fingers to the effects of the condition, walked 5km using his prosthetic legs and cycled a further 5km using his hand cycle, to mark five years since his amputations. Special ice creams help nourish older patients

We're delighted to have helped fund some special ice creams to keep older patients hydrated and nourished during their time in hospital. The N-ICE creams were developed by a team at NUH for older patients who may struggle to eat, especially in the warmer weather, and are rich in the nutrients they need. Family member gives back to Linden Lodge

Our supporter Rhiannon is taking on the Robin Hood Half Marathon to thank staff at Linden Lodge for caring for her sister's partner, Luke. When Luke was struck down with Guillain-Barre Syndrome, the team at Linden Lodge helped him learn to walk again. Read the family's moving story.

New expressing rooms for NUH staff

We're proud to support the new expressing rooms at City Hospital and QMC, which have been created thanks to the Staff Wellbeing team, after staff requested a private, dedicated space to express and store breastmilk. We funded two expressing chairs – one for each room – to give parents a comfortable place to sit while expressing. Read the full story. 

Why eight-year-old Asiyah is fundraising

Eight-year-old Asiyah and her school friends have raised £7,500 for Nottingham Children's Hospital, where she is being treated for acute myeloid leukaemia. Asiyah shared her story, including her thanks to the doctors and nurses who are caring for her. Read Asiyah's story here.
