Runners from across the county came together for the Robin Hood Half Marathon on Sunday 24th September. We were delighted to see 73 people take part in aid of Nottingham’s NHS hospitals, and raise over £21,500 for patients across Nottinghamshire.

Among the runners were two nurses from Hayward House palliative care centre, who took on the 13.1 mile challenge in aid of the Hayward House Appeal. Jennie and Juta wanted to help fund enhancements at Hayward House, which will make sure patients reaching the end of their lives receive the best possible care.

Another runner taking on the challenge for Hayward House was Amber. She wanted to say thank you to the team for caring for her Uncle Mick in his final days. She signed up for the half marathon as a fitness goal, but then decided to raise money in Mick’s memory. She’s raised over £600 for the Hayward House Appeal

After the main race, mini marathoners took to the start line with 16 running the 1.5 mile challenge to support patients in Nottingham.

We also welcomed 29 volunteers who gave up their morning to help cheer on our incredible fundraisers at the cheer point, and helped in our Charity tent.

Charity Stow, Community and Corporate Fundraiser, said: “Thank you so much to all the runners, volunteers and supporters who made Sunday’s event such a success! It was amazing to see our fundraisers out in force, taking on a challenge together to make hospital care in Nottingham the best it can be. It’s been a delight to work on this event and I can’t wait for 2024!”

Deborah Morton, Volunteer Development Manager at Nottingham Hospitals Charity, said: “It was fantastic to welcome so many volunteers to this year’s Robin Hood Half Marathon. It was great to see so many new volunteers joining the team who selflessly give up their time to help support the fundraisers throughout their run. We also had a volunteer photographer who captured memories throughout the day.”

A huge thank you to all our fundraisers that took on the 13.1 mile run on Sunday. If you would like to take part in next year’s race, entries are now open!
