Goody bags help brighten up children’s Mobility Centre summer event

At City Hospital, the Mobility Centre opened their doors for a special summer event in which children ranging from ages 0-18 with limb difference/amputations attended alongside their families.

At the end of the event, each child was gifted a goody bag which was funded by your kind donations. Elin Rosser, Occupational Therapist at the centre, spoke about the day and how your donations helped top off the event.

“A lot of these children don’t know anyone else with a limb difference/amputation, and it can be very isolating for not just the children but for the parents & their families too.

Throughout the morning there was lots of fun activities outdoors such as table tennis, crafts & games. We had charities, NUH youth service, play specialists & health professionals all available helping with activities and being available for support to parents. The feedback we received from the event was fantastic in that all the children really enjoyed the activities and making new friends. Parents got the opportunity to speak to other parents to gain/give peer support which is invaluable.

The goody bags were a lovely finishing touch to the event as items inside helped the children feel valued.

We are running a Christmas event in December and we are hoping to run x2 annual events going forwards where all can continue to come together to support one another and build support networks”.

Thanks to your donations, we were able to provide small but impactful items towards the goody bags which went home with children who attended the event.
