Record-breaking support for Nottingham's hospitals this festive season

Posted on: 5 Jan 2026

This festive season has been truly special for Nottingham Hospitals Charity, thanks to an incredible outpouring of support from businesses across the East Midlands.

More organisations than ever have stepped forward to support Nottingham University Hospitals (NUH) NHS Trust, helping bring joy to patients of all ages and show appreciation for NHS staff.

From fundraising and volunteering to donating gifts and practical resources, more than 30 local businesses came together to ensure no ward or service missed out, reaching areas across the hospitals including Nottingham Children’s Hospital, palliative care services, Healthcare of Older People (HCOP) wards, Emergency Departments and day case units.

Their support allowed Nottingham Hospitals Charity to deliver thousands of festive gifts and helped wards stock up on items and activities for the year ahead. Generous corporate donations, valued at over £15,000, included everything from gifts and play equipment, to waiting room activities, books, puzzle books and other age-appropriate resources - giving staff the tools to continue to enhance patient care and create welcoming, comfortable environments for patients and their loved ones all year round.

Businesses and community groups supporting the charity this year included AECOM, ALB Group, Amazon, A W Lymn, Domestic & General, Foundry Gym, GSK Consulting, Heidelberg Materials, HMRC, Ideal Services Group, KSA Structures, Linney, Nicholas Humphreys, Nottingham Panthers, Nottingham Rugby, One Hiring, Pentagon Motors Group, QD Commercial, Rushcliffe Arena, Selwood, Shredall, Snap Fitness, Specsavers, Spectrum Brands and VH Talent.

The support of businesses and community groups also helped the charity say thank you to the incredible NHS staff working through the festive bank holidays. For the first time, festive supermarket vouchers were provided to every clinical area on duty, giving teams the chance to enjoy a shared celebration together during their shifts — a small but meaningful way to bring people together while caring for others.

Alongside gifts and volunteering, monetary donations from supporters have helped Nottingham Hospitals Charity continue to fund impactful projects and provide support for patients and staff throughout the year, far beyond the festive season.

Businesses also gave their time, with 30 corporate volunteers joining the charity to support festive activity across the hospitals. Volunteers from companies including Distinct Recruitment, Nicholas Humphreys, Specsavers and VF Corporation helped wrap more than 425 gifts and wrote over 60 thank you cards for NHS staff.

Distinct Recruitment volunteers even joined in as Santa’s elves to support the charity’s Santa’s Grotto and Breakfast with Santa events, and P&I Group generously sponsored the charity’s wreath-making workshops, helping to make these popular festive fundraising events possible.

Sam Paterson, Corporate Fundraising Lead at Nottingham Hospitals Charity, said:

“The support we’ve seen from businesses this festive season has been amazing. Seeing so many organisations coming together to support patients and NHS staff - in so many ways - really shows the difference corporate support can make. It’s also a brilliant way to kick off our 20th anniversary year, celebrating what we do as a charity and the impact we can have when businesses get behind our cause.”
