Staff across Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH) were treated to a cool surprise on Friday 15 August, as an ice cream van toured hospital sites to serve up more than 1,000 free ice creams and lollies.
The summer thank you initiative, organised by NUH, was made possible through the generous support of Nottingham Hospitals Charity, which funded the treats using donations specifically given for staff wellbeing.
Vans were stationed at Abbeyfields, Queen’s Medical Centre (QMC) and City Hospital sites, with Ropewalk House receiving a special delivery.
Sam Cousens, Director of Fundraising and Communications at Nottingham Hospitals Charity, said:
“Nottingham Hospitals Charity is in awe of our amazing NHS team here at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust. We were happy to support the initiative to provide a cold treat to our staff onsite today.”
While not every team member could be at work or visit the van on the day, the event is part of a series of thank-you gestures held throughout the year to celebrate and support NUH staff.
