Great Bear staff raise money for children’s hospital

Posted on: 18 Feb 2026

Staff at logistics firm Great Bear have raised an impressive £2,100 in support of Nottingham Children’s Hospital.

The partnership was inspired when one of Great Bear’s drivers shared how their child received exceptional care from the children’s hospital. Their story moved colleagues across the organisation, sparking a year of creative fundraising to support young patients and their families.

Great Bear chose Nottingham Hospitals Charity as their Charity of the Year in 2025, a tradition in which the company supports a different staff-nominated charity annually. Their fundraising was built on the power of small contributions - often just £1 or £2 - making it easy and affordable for every employee to get involved.

Their activities were fun, friendly and accessible to staff right across the business, including:

  • Monthly raffles for parking spaces and additional days off, generating £70–£120 per month
  • Employee stock sales, raising over £600
  • Christmas and Easter raffles, boosted by a generous donation from Great Bear
  • A spooky Halloween bake-off
  • A Grand Prix sweepstake
  • A Women’s Euros sweepstake
  • An entertaining Baby Picture Quiz, where colleagues guessed which baby photo matched which employee

Each initiative brought colleagues together, boosted team spirit, and proved that a series of small donations can collectively create a big impact.

To mark the end of their year of fundraising, Sam Paterson, Corporate Fundraising Lead at Nottingham Hospitals Charity, visited Great Bear for a special cheque presentation. Staff gathered in front of one of Great Bear’s branded lorries - a fitting backdrop to celebrate a year of creativity, generosity, and community effort.

Great Bear, a well-established UK logistics and supply chain company, are known for their commitment to excellence and strong team culture. That same spirit is reflected in the enthusiasm their staff brought to supporting their chosen charity.
