With spring finally here, we're offering the perfect opportunity to get outdoors, get active, and do something special for Nottingham's hospitals at the same time.
Nottingham Hospitals Charity is celebrating its 20th anniversary year, and our summer of fundraising events kicks off with a Charity Golf Day on Friday 19th June, at the picturesque Wollaton Park Golf Club. Get together a team of four and enjoy 18 holes of golf, plus a complimentary breakfast and two-course lunch, all in aid of Nottingham Children’s Hospital.
Next up is our hugely popular Dragon Boat Race on the River Trent, which takes place on Saturday 4th July and Sunday 5th July, at the Victoria Embankment. Get together a team of 13 to 17 friends, family or colleagues, and enjoy a fun day of paddling on the river, all in aid of your chosen area of Nottingham’s hospitals.
For anyone who enjoys an adrenaline rush and wants to take on a once-in-a-lifetime challenge, we're holding our annual skydive at Langar Airfield in July. Sail through the sky from 13,000 feet high, and raise money for your chosen area of Nottingham’s NHS hospitals at the same time.
As summer draws to a close, Nottingham Hospitals Charity’s flagship event, the Big QMC Abseil, takes place, on Saturday 5th September. Scale almost 100 feet down the side of one of the UK’s tallest hospitals, and raise money for the area of the hospital that means most to you at the same time.
Finally, we will return to the Robin Hood Half Marathon and Mini Marathon at the Victoria Embankment on Sunday 27th September. Take on the 13.1 mile run, or the family-friendly 1.5-mile route, and help raise money to support patients in Nottingham.
Sam Cousens, Director of Fundraising and Communications at Nottingham Hospitals Charity, said: “This year marks the 20th anniversary of Nottingham Hospitals Charity, and we’re so excited about our summer of fantastic fundraising events here in Nottingham.
“Whether you’re an adrenaline junkie who wants the thrill of jumping out of a plane or scaling 100ft down the side of the Queen’s Medical Centre, or someone who is looking to get fit and have fun at the same time, there’s a whole host of events to suit you.
“Every year, hundreds of people come together to take on one of our events – all in aid of a local cause that is close to their hearts. We want to make our 20th anniversary the biggest and best year yet, and hope that people from across Nottinghamshire will once again come together to support their local NHS hospitals this summer.”
