Tips to get the most out of your fundraising

Whether you are planning your first fundraiser or just need some tips to boost your impact, here are some fresh ideas to help you maximise your success and enjoy the journey along the way.

Make it personal

People are more likely to support your fundraising activity when they know why it matters to you. Use your fundraising page or social media channels to share your story – whether it’s a personal experience or a loved one who has inspired you, it’s what makes people want to get behind your cause.

Focus on the experience, not just the donations

If you are running a community fundraising event, remember to focus on creating a memorable experience for your supporters, not just raising money. Whether it’s a quiz night, a cake sale, or a challenge event, ensuring they have a great experience will help them support your cause.

Show the behind-the-scenes

Photos, short videos and behind-the-scenes content can bring your fundraiser to life. Show your progress, preparations and all the people involved to help supporters feel more emotionally connected to your journey.

Set milestones and celebrate them

Instead of focusing only on the end target, break it down into smaller milestones. Whether that’s reaching your first £100, running your first practice 5k or even receiving your charity t-shirt. Every milestone, no matter how small, means a lot to your supporters. Share them on your social media channels and fundraising pages – you deserve to be celebrated.

Make it easy to support you

Asking for donations can feel daunting, so make it as easy as possible for people to support you. Keep your donation page simple, include clear instructions, and offer a few ways to give.

It’s never a bad idea to reshare around pay day – when people might be feeling a little more generous.

The easier you make it, the more likely people are to donate.

Work with others

Getting friends and family involved can help you reach more people and make your fundraising even more enjoyable. You could even plan something together so everyone can take part.

Celebrate your achievements

Once you’ve completed your fundraising activity, take a moment to celebrate the difference you have helped make to patients across Nottingham’s NHS hospitals.

Be proud of what you’ve achieved and don’t forget to share it with the people who supported you along the way - their encouragement made it possible.
