Taking on the Big QMC Abseil can be a daunting challenge for those who fear heights, like Laura Renshaw. But, like our other fundraisers, she wants to say thank you to staff at Nottingham hospitals for all the care her daughter has received.
Laura shared her story with us…
“I’m doing the Big QMC Abseil because my daughter Grace suffers from Crohn’s Disease and has had to spend a lot of time at Nottingham Children’s Hospital, especially D33 and the Children’s Daycase Unit. As a parent, I’m in a situation where I can’t do anything to help her so taking on this challenge and raising money for people who do make a difference is the best way I can say thank you.
The people who care for her when she is in the hospital have made it so welcoming and are incredible that even at such a difficult time, she looks forward to coming to the hospital.
I’ve chosen to take on the abseil despite being absolutely terrified of heights, so doing this is going to be very hard for me but I will do anything I can to help such a good cause.
My team at the Nottingham Building Society have even got involved because they know how much it means to me. I’ve managed to get some colleagues to even sign up for the event to help support our local hospitals.
Despite my fear, I’m looking forward to taking on the challenge as it means I can say thank you to the team for everything they continue to do when looking after Grace.”
