William Colacicchi


William Colacicchi is currently Senior Partner at law firm Browne Jacobson where he specialises in trusts and charities and heads up the firm’s private client and charities group. William is also the current Chairman of The Association of NHS Charities and is also a trustee and chairman of Baron Davenport’s Charity; a trustee of Fundays in Nottinghamshire; Kate Wilson Oliver Trust; and Director of Mowbray Trustees Ltd.

Roger Whittle


Nottingham-born Roger Whittle is the founder and Managing Director of Apple IT Systems Integrator Jigsaw24, employing 200 people, with annual sales of over £125 million. Roger established Jigsaw24 in 1992 and its headquarters have always been in Nottingham.

Mandie Sunderland


Mandie has worked at NUH since February 2015 and as Chief Nurse is responsible for almost 5,000 nurses and midwives at the Trust. Mandie’s clinical background as a Registered General Nurse has mostly been in Intensive Care environments, where she developed an interest in education and training, leading to posts in both professional and clinical practice development. In 2013, she was named one of the 50 most influential women in the NHS by the Health Service Journal.

Laurence Coppel


Laurence was Head of Corporate Finance for Singer & Friedlander Limited, Merchant Bank and was then Executive Director of Singer & Friedlander Group PLC until his retirement. Laurence was a non executive Director of Queen’s Medical Centre University Hospital NHS Trust for 6 years and was Chairman of Nottingham Building Society. Laurence is a council member and past county president of St John’s Ambulance in Nottinghamshire, is a Trustee of Fundays in Nottinghamshire; and is Chairman of Trustees for Amanda Lee Charitable Trust.

Jane Johnson


Jane is a retired Consultant Pathologist at Nottingham City Hospital. She is also the former Chairman of the Medical Staff Committee at Nottingham City Hospital, and Past President of the British Society for Clinical Cytology.

Jonathan English


Jonathan English is the co-founder and Managing Director of Skeleton, a Nottingham-based video production agency. Founded in 2008, Skeleton works with brands and business across the world, delivering three key service offerings of video strategy, video production and video marketing, ensuring their clients’ video content gets positive results.

Carole Ayre


Carole Ayre is currently a Retired Partner at law firm Browne Jacobson and led the development of their new Clinical Negligence team. Her focus has been on promoting the development of health law practice at the firm with a wide range of experience within the NHS sector.  Outside her law practice Carole has chaired her local residents’ association and is a regular volunteer for the National Trust.

Harish Vyas


Professor Harish Vyas’ medical career spans four decades and includes working at Great Ormond Street.  At Nottingham he brought together children’s units from the former City and QMC hospitals to form Nottingham Children’s Hospital, and led the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit.  Recently retired, Professor Vyas also brings a strong research background with him and recently completed fundraising for new children’s respiratory testing equipment for the Children’s Hospital.

Barbara Cathcart

Charity Chief Executive

Barbara has been at the Charity since it formed in October 2006. She sets the strategy and oversees the fundraising and fund expenditure of the Charity. In her spare time she enjoys running, walking, traveling and being with her family.  

Julie Brailsford

Deputy Chief Executive & Head of Finance

Julie has worked at the Charity since 2008 and oversees our finance and governance arrangements to ensure that all our income and expenditure is properly accounted for. Her hobbies are reading, gardening and spending time with her family, including her two daughters.

Nigel Gregory

Director of Development

Nigel joins the Charity, bringing with him 17 years of experience in fundraising, several of these years spent working with Outward Bound West and the American Alpine Club helping them to develop their fundraising and communications strategy. As Director of Development, Nigel is responsible for overseeing all fundraising activity as well as developing and implementing an ambitious fundraising strategy to ensure that the Charity meets its potential and can build on its fundraising success.
