The Zephyr’s centre, which provides support for families who have lost a child, baby or pregnancy, has been shortlisted for a Butterfly Award!
The Butterfly Awards take place annually and celebrate people who have experienced baby loss, and organisations or individuals who support them.
Due to the fantastic work of Zephyr’s Project Manager, Carly Williams, and her dedicated team of specialist counsellors, Zephyr’s has been shortlisted for the Best Support Organisation Award.

Zephyr’s is based at City Hospital and is funded entirely by our Zephyr’s Appeal. The centre was opened in April 2017 by Carly and her partner, Martin Sommerville, both from St Ann’s in Nottingham. Carly and Martin raised £20,000 for Nottingham Hospitals Charity in memory of their son, Zephyr, who was stillborn in 2013.
After Zephyr died, Carly and Martin were cared for by staff on the maternity wards at City Hospital. However, they found it incredibly painful to return back to the maternity wards, and to see new mums and dads celebrating the birth of their babies.
We’re incredibly proud of Carly, who manages Zephyr’s, and her team for this incredible recognition of their work and the impact they’ve made on hundreds of families.
