Coronation Street star Tina O’Brien and her fiancé Adam won the jackpot in ITV’s All Star Mr and Mrs last night and have chosen to donate their £30,000 winnings to Nottingham Children’s Hospital.
Tina, who plays Sarah Platt in the popular soap, picked Nottingham Hospitals Charity as her chosen charity because Adam’s young cousin was treated here.
Nottingham Hospitals Charity aims to raise £3 million by 2018 to provide vital support to the Children’s Hospital, helping to transform children’s care and research new treatments.
The Children’s Hospital, based within Queen’s Medical Centre, cares for more than 60,000 young people every year from across the region and beyond. Children are treated for everything from cancer and leukaemia to kidney disease, organ transplants, life long acute respiratory conditions and broken bones.
Barbara Cathcart, Chief Executive of Nottingham Hospitals Charity says: “We are absolutely delighted that Tina has chosen to support the Children’s Hospital with this generous donation. Having support from such a well known celebrity will give our work with Nottingham Children’s Hospital a real boost.”
