Staff from local firm spread Easter cheer at Hayward House

Patients at Hayward House, the specialist palliative care centre at City Hospital, are in for a chocolatey treat this Easter thanks to the kindness of staff from Nottingham-based telephone answering service, Answer-4u.

Earlier this week Darren McCowan and Dawn Gostling from Answer-4u delivered more than 100 Easter eggs to Hayward House.  The eggs, donated by the company’s staff, will be distributed to daycare patients and in-patients for Easter.

Last year the company spread some Easter cheer by arranging a chocolate egg collection for younger patients at the Nottingham Children’s Hospital.  This year, when they heard that the Children’s Hospital was already being well-supported with egg donations, the company decided to support Hayward House patients.

“We know that chocolate is enjoyed by people of all ages,” explained Darren McCowan, Marketing Manager at Answer-4u, “and when we found out more about the amazing work that Hayward House does we really wanted to help.  We’re very proud of our generous staff and we hope that the eggs are enjoyed by patients at Hayward House”.

Alison Bateman, Voluntary Services Manager at Hayward House, added, “We’re so grateful to everyone at Answer-4u for donating such a fabulous selection of Easter eggs, which are a lovely treat for our patients.  Our aim, at Hayward House, is to enrich the quality of life for patients through the skills of our experienced and caring team – donations from companies like Answer-4u help us to make a difference.”

Hayward House provides high quality, hospice-style care centred on the needs of patients and their families.  Hayward House offers palliative care from diagnosis, through the interim periods of advancing disease, up to and including end of life care.  Patients’ pain and other symptoms are addressed; so too are emotional, spiritual and social problems of both patients and their families.  A bereavement/counselling service is also provided.
