New Director of Development joins the Charity

Nigel Gregory will join Nottingham Hospitals Charity as Director of Development from 1st February 2016. Nigel currently works as Deputy Director of Development and Alumni Relations at Loughborough University and will join the Charity on a permanent basis from February.

Nigel brings 17 years of experience in fundraising and has worked in the United Kingdom and United States of America where he spent several years working with Outward Bound West and the American Alpine Club, helping them to develop their fundraising and communications programmes.

The newly created Director of Development role will be responsible for overseeing all fundraising activity as well as developing and implementing an ambitious fundraising strategy to ensure that the Charity meets its potential and can build on its fundraising success.

Nigel lives in Quorn, Leicester with his wife Kath and two children Alec (14) and Ella (11). He says: “I’m looking forward to joining the Charity and having a direct impact on the needs of patients and their families, whether this is raising money for important research to transform treatment for patients, helping to fund life-saving equipment or supporting patients in different circumstance; from the Children’s Hospital to palliative care at Hayward House.”

He continues: “Having a small team but supporting such a large NHS organisation will be a challenge but Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust has an excellent reputation, it will be very rewarding to support the staff, patients and their families that use the hospitals in Nottingham. It’s important to fundraise for areas you are passionate about and I know what a difference the Charity and our donors can make to improve the experience for patients.”

Cycling and climbing enthusiast Nigel was national triathlon champion three times (for the 45- 50 age group) and is also a keen cyclist, training and competing in categories such as racing, mountain, cyclo-cross, and road biking with his son Alec. He has even considered cycling the 20 miles (each way) from Leicester to the Charity.

Chief Executive of Nottingham Hospitals Charity, Barbara Cathcart, says: “We are delighted to welcome Nigel to the Charity and we look forward to working with him to develop fundraising and ensure we continue to build on our aspirations as a Charity, and deliver even more for the people of Nottingham. Nigel brings a wealth of experience to help us achieve our goals and I’m pleased he will be joining the Charity team.”
