This Super September we are thrilled to be partnering with some amazing local businesses supporting Nottingham’s hospitals.
This month we held our Big QMC Abseil, which was kindly sponsored by local car company Sandicliffe. Not only did they sponsor the event, they also had 10 employees braving the nearly 100ft drop to take part! Super September will also see Nottingham Hospitals Charity launch our first tap-to-donate box at Sandicliffe’s Ford Garage. We are really excited to see this raising money and awareness for Nottingham Children’s Hospital.
Another corporate team joined our Big QMC Abseil from Enterprise car rentals. Supporting our Big iMRI Appeal the team of 11 stepped (or leaped!) out of their comfort zone to undertake the challenge. They abseiled the height of the building knowing the positive impact their support will have on lives of children receiving treatment on the other side of that same wall. The team from Enterprise are also looking forward to a special visit to Nottingham Children’s Hospital to have the unique opportunity to talk with Consultant Paediatric Neurosurgeon Donald Macarthur about the positive impact the iMRI will have on the treatment of his patients.
This week we welcomed to Hayward House the 14 brave Nottingham City Transport (NCT) drivers who shaved off half their hair and beards in August to recognise their amazing achievement. Hayward House had treated both of NCT bus driver Andy Godfrey’s parents and he wanted to mark the 5-year anniversary of his mother’s death and thank Hayward House for the great care both his parents received. Andy persuaded his colleagues to join him in shaving off half of their hair and beards. After braving the shave they all continued to drive their buses with their bold hairdo for a week, at first receiving curious glances from customers and then receiving donations and kind words of encouragement.
NCT generously offered to match the amount raised by the drivers and this week they all presented Hayward House with a cheque for a phenomenal £8,400.
