A month after its launch, our emergency ‘Help your Hospital heroes’ appeal has raised a phenomenal £75,000 in support of those working on the frontline of the NHS, at Nottingham’s hospitals.
We have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support the appeal has received from individuals and organisations from across Nottinghamshire, and would like to take this opportunity to update you on how your donations are being used.
At the appeal’s start, we were able to quickly use funds to provide essential food packages and essentials for staff who were working long shifts, unable to get to the shops, and finding empty shelves when they did get there.
As the appeal progressed, and generous donations have come flooding in, we have been able to create two staff wellbeing centres – one at City Hospital and one at the Queen’s Medical Centre. These havens are places where staff can go to relax and unwind for a short time during challenging shifts, get a drink and a healthy snack, and speak to trained wellbeing officers if they need support.
Your continued support means we will be soon. able to create a third wellbeing centre due to high demand, as well as funding sleep pods for frontline staff who need to rest after a long shift. We will continue to work closely with staff at NUH Trust to ensure your donations are being used where they are needed most to support staffing the ways they most value.
Thank you to everyone who has supported our appeal so far, to help our #NottinghamNHSHeroes on the frontline at Nottingham’s hospitals during this challenging time. To find out more about the appeal please click here
